What makes Orbi a great developer workplace?

What makes Orbi a great developer workplace?

We sat down for a quick chat with one of our front-end developers to try to figure out what makes Orbi stand out as a great employer. Meet Emil Jehrn, one of the members of our dev team who focuses on front-end development.

Interviewer: Hi Emil! You work as a front-end developer at Orbi. Is this your first time working at a startup, or what's your history like?

Emil: Hello! Since this is my first time being employed, it's also my first time working at a startup. Before joining Orbi, I was self-employed, working on various projects such as leveraging automation for professional poker games, and as an early blockchain professional – I was even part of the Ethereum's Initial Coin Offering back in 2014. That all has allowed me to gain experience in different areas of front-end development and tech. Working at a startup like Orbi has presented new challenges and opportunities that I find both exciting and rewarding.

Interviewer: Tell us about a key difference between working at Orbi and what you've done in the past.

Emil: We have a really great tech team with a solid foundation to stand on. This applies to both our diverse skills and the technical stack we've chosen. We build everything ourselves and prioritize long-term stable solutions. In contrast to some of my past experiences, Orbi's focus on collaboration and innovation has enabled us to create a dynamic and fast-paced environment. We're not afraid to take risks or explore new technologies, which makes our work even more engaging.

Interviewer: So, do you think working at a startup is for everyone?

Emil: No, if you need very clear tasks and a hierarchical structure, the startup world might not be for you. Working at a startup requires adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to take on a variety of roles. It's an environment where you can grow and learn, but perhaps not for everyone. If you prefer a more structured workplace with clearly defined roles and responsibilities, a larger, more established company might be a better fit.

Interviewer:So, if you had to pick out one thing that excites you about working at Orbi, what'd that be?

Emil: Our product development and Orbi's journey! Developing a product that I truly believe in and am passionate about, where I'm involved in the entire process -- from idea and sketch to finished product or feature -- is incredibly fulfilling. And it doesn't stop there – we're constantly building out, improving, and analyzing what we've previously built. Being part of a startup like Orbi also means that I have the opportunity to contribute to its growth and success. Witnessing the company evolve and adapt to new challenges is both exciting and inspiring, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Interviewer: Thanks for your time, Emil!
